The Wizard of Menlo Park: How Thomas Alva Edison Invented the Modern World
By Randall Stross
Crown (March 13, 2007)

Summary

Edison the legend is very different than Edison the man. In addition to his admittedly significant inventions, Edison was clearly most accomplished at promoting his reputation. Yet time after time he missed the mark when it came to seeing what customers want.

Rating and opinion

Fooled by Randomness - The Process of Innovation

Although it is a rather pedestrian biographical treatment, this book is one of the best descriptions of the difference between an inventor and an innovator.
