Inovo has been developing persona-based innovation process tools since 2002 as part of its innovation process. Since that time, Inovo has created a structured and comprehensive persona modeling methodology that includes tools such as the Persona Adoption Model. It is a significant enhancement to the use of personas in the design and marketing communities in several ways:

1. Inovo’s personas can be used at the front-end of product conception, during the design and product development process, developing messaging, branding and promotion, or modifying existing products (or services). Inovo’s personas are developed to gain insight into what a product or promotion should be as well as how the product should be designed.
2. Inovo’s personas consist not only of a narrative description but also a structured set of needs and desires. These needs and desires are expressed as the specific outcomes and experiences that each persona wants either more or less of in their product experience.
3. Inovo’s personas are implemented as an executable software model that allows testing of new concepts. This provides as indication of how different personas will respond.
4. Inovo’s personas explicitly represent both the rational (outcome-oriented) and emotional (experience-oriented) aspects of human thought and behavior. Both perspectives are necessary to understand and predict customer reactions.
5. Inovo’s personas are created by speaking with a diverse variety of people – from potential adopters, experts, and even ardent opponents – enabling a wide range of thought and experience to be incorporated.
6. Inovo’s persona’s explicitly incorporate experience contexts in the form of effects that are meaningful.
   

These enhancements to persona modeling not only improve the design and marketing process, but also enable using personas in the front-end of the innovation process. Persona Adoption Modeling can now be used to create significant innovations in products, services and other activities.
